What Does It Cost?
Tuition for UTBS-Academy is not covered by insurance and is in addition to your current financial agreement with UTBS for behavior or mental health day treatment. Please reach out to academy@utbs.co for the current year’s tuition schedule as it may be slightly adjusted each year.

UTBS Academy works with families to make the program affordable and realistic for their family. This program is not intended to create another financial burden on families who are already budgeting for expensive medical treatments. Therefore, UTBS Academy may offer scholarships to individual students in order to make tuition more affordable, or provide tuition adjustments on a case by case basis. The full amount of tuition may be covered by state funded scholarships as well.
Carson Smith Scholarship
UTBS-Academy is a Carson Smith Eligible School. Eligible students may apply for this scholarship to cover the full or partial cost of tuition. If you are interested in applying for this scholarship please contact your treatment team or academy@utbs.co. Scholarship requirements are outlined below.
- The client’s custodial parent or legal guardian must reside in Utah
- The student must have one or more of the following disabilities as detailed by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA):
- Intellectual Disability
- Hearing Impairment
- Speech or Language Impairment
- Visual Impairment
- Emotional Disturbance
- Orthopedic Impairment
- Autism
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Other Health Impairment
- Specific Learning Disability
- Developmental Delay
- The client is at least 3 years old by September 2nd and under 19 years of age on the last day of the school year, or the client has not graduated from high school under 22 years of age on the last day of the school year.
- Has been accepted to an eligible private school and either has a current IEP or is determined eligible for special education through an assessment team composed of the parent/guardian, public school representatives and private school representatives (This can be completed after the application has been submitted.
- The client’s parent/guardian must make certain acknowledgments required by statute, including the assumption of full financial responsibility for the education of the client
